Quality Engineer II (Consumer Products)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; onsite role with periodic travel to global manufacturing sites and development partners

Salary: $84,000–$106,000 annual base pay

What you will do

• Support product development from concept through launch by maintaining product requirements and primary concerns documentation in eQMS systems.
• Translate product concepts and consumer use conditions into mechanical, physical, chemical, and abuse testing plans.
• Participate in design reviews and communicate safety, durability, regulatory, compliance, cost, and consumer-experience risks.
• Coordinate product validation with internal laboratories, third-party testing facilities, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
• Investigate product failures, safety issues, manufacturing defects, consumer complaints, and field issues using root cause analysis.
• Support FMEA, corrective actions, supplier quality activities, and continuous improvement of testing and manufacturing processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in quality engineering, product development, or manufacturing.
• Knowledge of global toy safety standards and regulations, including ASTM F963, CPSIA, EN71, and ISO.
• Experience with internal or third-party testing laboratories, quality management systems, quality documentation, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis, data interpretation, risk management, and root cause analysis tools such as FMEA, 5 Whys, and Fishbone.
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, project-management, and problem-solving skills with attention to product safety and compliance.

Nice to have

• Experience in the toy or consumer products industry.
• Experience with statistical tools such as Minitab.
