Head of Risk & Compliance (Fintech): Establishing and leading the risk and compliance function for a short-term car insurance platform with an accent on regulatory accountability and FCA relations. Focus on overseeing the business risk committee, ensuring Consumer Duty alignment, and building a scalable compliance framework.

Location: Hybrid: 2 days per week in London or Fleet office

What you will do

• Take full ownership of Risk & Compliance, from day-to-day advisory support to Board-level risk governance.
• Chair and lead the Business Risk Committee, overseeing the risk register and key risk indicators.
• Partner with Product, Marketing, and Underwriting teams to provide pragmatic feedback on new features and customer journeys.
• Build and execute a proactive compliance monitoring plan to identify and resolve issues.
• Own the data protection and privacy programme, including conducting data protection impact assessments.
• Lead the relationship with the FCA regulator as the business scales.

Requirements

• Senior compliance/risk leadership experience in an FCA-regulated general insurance business.
• Experience as an SMF16 and/or SMF4 holder, or the ability to step into these roles (subject to FCA approval).
• Practical working knowledge of FCA frameworks (SYSC, ICOBS, PROD) and Consumer Duty.
• Hands-on "builder" mindset, comfortable as an individual contributor in the first year.
• Strong stakeholder management skills for partnering with both Product teams and the Board.
• Experience in motor or general insurance is preferred.
