Sr. Director/Principal Research Scientist, Quantum Computing

Location: Singapore; hybrid position with at least 3 days in the office

What you will do

• Help establish and shape hirify.global’s Quantum Computing Center of Excellence in Singapore, including its research direction, scientific identity, and external visibility.
• Define and execute a research agenda in quantum information and computation for financial services, payments, and security.
• Design, analyze, and prototype quantum algorithms, computational models, and proof-of-concept systems.
• Lead high-impact, cross-disciplinary research programs from concept through execution.
• Mentor researchers, build a strong scientific culture, and help attract and evaluate research talent.
• Develop partnerships with universities, research institutes, industry partners, and government agencies, and represent hirify.global through publications, talks, and conferences.

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 6 years of postdoctoral or industrial research experience in quantum computing, quantum information, or a closely related area.
• At least 9 years of post-PhD research experience, including meaningful leadership experience.
• Established international reputation demonstrated through influential publications, invited talks, patents, or other recognized contributions.
• Deep expertise in quantum algorithms, optimization, machine learning, cryptography, error correction, quantum architecture or systems, distributed quantum computing, or quantum information theory.
• Strong communication, mentoring, influencing, and research-program leadership skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholder groups.

Nice to have

• Experience applying quantum computing to finance, payments, security, or enterprise-scale computational problems.
• Experience building external partnerships in academia, government, or industry.
• Experience operating in ambiguous, fast-evolving environments and building new capabilities from the ground up.
