CNC Operator - Large CNC Machining - 3rd Shift

Requirements

• Set up and operate large CNC machine tools, including mills, horizontal or vertical lathes, machining centers, and horizontal boring bars.
• Read and follow blueprints, process documents, program tapes, manuscripts, verbal instructions, and standard work instructions.
• Establish reference points, set offsets, preset tools, and perform trial runs or program prove-outs.
• Machine ferrous and non-ferrous metals to specified tolerances.
• Use fixtures, tooling, chucks, cutters, gages, micrometers, indicators, and hand tools.
• Handle medium-weight materials manually and heavier materials using hoists or cranes.

What you will do

• Set up machines and select the required tools and equipment for assigned work.
• Perform machining operations according to process requirements and specified tolerances.
• Deburr parts, check completed work, and preset tools during machine cycles when required.
• Maintain standard work files, program files, fixtures, and tooling.
• Keep the machine clean and complete daily routine maintenance checks.
• Work under the direction of an assigned supervisor, typically a team leader or process engineer.
