TL;DR
Facilities LSS Engineer (Life Safety Systems): Operating, maintaining, and improving facility life safety infrastructure with an accent on fire and evacuation systems, smoke and liquid leak detection, HPM alarms, and tool annunciation systems. Focus on programming and troubleshooting Siemens PLCs, managing I/O points, supporting construction and sustaining activities, and improving system reliability and regulatory compliance.

Location: On-site in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. US citizenship is required, and the position is not eligible for hirify.global immigration sponsorship.

Annual salary: $89,010–$170,630 USD.

What you will do

  • Own the lifecycle management of Life Safety Systems, including capacity, reliability, uptime, operation, and maintenance.
  • Provide sustaining and construction support for fire and evacuation systems, early warning smoke detection, liquid leak detection, Tool Annunciation Systems, and HPM alarm and detection systems.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs for HPM and TAS systems, including comprehensive I/O point management.
  • Maintain precise technical documentation and implement continuous improvement projects for system performance and safety.
  • Provide off-shift work and on-call coverage as operational needs require.
  • Communicate technical and strategic concepts to engineering peers, operational technicians, and senior management.

Requirements

  • US citizenship and on-site work in Phoenix, Arizona are required.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, systems and controls, computer, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience applying controls system engineering principles.
  • At least 3 years of experience with Life Safety Systems, building codes, regulatory requirements, and NFPA standards.
  • At least 3 years of experience with IC, Life Safety Systems, or BMS design techniques, including technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Hands-on programming experience with Siemens PLCs.

Nice to have

  • 5+ years of experience with scripting languages, high-level programming languages, servers, operating systems, databases, and networking.
  • Experience designing instrumentation for Life Safety Systems.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, Rockwell Automation RSView, and Cimplicity.
