Sr. Engineering Manager, Cards (Payments/Distributed Systems): Leading the development and operation of scalable, reliable, and secure card payment services with an accent on distributed systems, APIs, microservices, testing, and operational excellence. Focus on designing high-availability architectures, solving complex distributed computing and production issues, and developing a high-performing engineering team.
Location: Remote, Brazil; candidates must be based in Brazil

What you will do
- Lead, hire, coach, and develop a high-performing software engineering team.
- Drive the design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support of scalable, reliable, and secure services.
- Guide the design and implementation of distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and integration patterns.
- Oversee code quality, test coverage, performance, resilience, security, observability, and scalability.
- Lead incident management, troubleshooting, technical risk mitigation, and operational excellence for production services.
- Collaborate with business, technical, leadership, and international stakeholders on architecture, prioritization, and delivery.
Requirements
- Must be based in Brazil.
- English proficiency at B2 level or above is required.
- 8+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 11+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in financial services, payments or authorization systems, including card issuing solutions and ISO 8583.
- Strong experience leading software engineering teams in production environments.
- Experience with distributed systems, APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, CI/CD, testing strategies, monitoring, logging, and tracing.
Nice to have
- Extensive experience in people management, hiring, coaching, and performance management.
- Experience with mission-critical, high-availability, or large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience integrating Generative AI tools into engineering workflows.
- Background in Agile methodologies and engineering management practices.
