TL;DR
Senior Interactive Play Designer (IoT): Designing and prototyping new digital-physical toys for kids with an accent on mechanical, electronic, and digital interactions. Focus on integrating IoT sensors, haptics, and motion tracking to create intuitive and engaging play experiences.

Location: Hybrid (Billund, Denmark). Average of 3 days per week in the office.

What you will do

  • Invent and prototype interactive toys combining physical movement, sensors, and digital elements.
  • Integrate emerging technologies like NFC, haptics, IoT sensors, and motion tracking.
  • Build prototypes using hirify.global bricks, 3D printing, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and Unity.
  • Conduct play-testing with children to iterate and refine toy designs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, model designers, and digital teams.
  • Mentor other designers and stay current with industry trends in play technology.

Requirements

  • Degree in Toy Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, Game Design, or Interaction Design.
  • Proven experience in designing interactive, physical-digital, or connected play experiences.
  • Expertise in mechatronics, 3D printing, and prototyping physical interactions.
  • Hands-on skill with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Micro:bit, or Unity.
  • Deep understanding of play mechanics, child-centered design, and toy safety.
  • Must be based in or able to work from the Billund office (Hybrid).
