Software Design Release Engineer (Automotive)

TL;DR
Software Design Release Engineer (Automotive): Coordinating the delivery, integration, and release of foundational software for Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) platforms with an accent on mechatronics infrastructure and cross-functional alignment. Focus on managing software builds, tracking program milestones, and ensuring high-quality delivery across multiple parallel build events.
Location: Hybrid; Must report to Milford, MI at least three times per week

What you will do
- Own software delivery coordination across SDV Mechatronics Infrastructure builds and program milestones.
- Align delivery plans, dependencies, and readiness with SWILs, calibration teams, and software teams.
- Track software timing, milestones, part numbers, and release content across various builds.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for software delivery issues, risks, and escalations.
- Maintain delivery plans and documentation to ensure execution, traceability, and follow-through.
- Partner with technical leads to troubleshoot delivery and integration issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in software integration, build management, release coordination, or DRE roles.
- Strong project management skills, including schedule tracking, risk identification, and issue follow-up.
- Familiarity with software build processes and version control systems such as Git or SVN.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills for providing status and driving closure.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of experience in release execution or program delivery coordination.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or Java.
- Experience with automotive software delivery, part number management, and program timing.
