Staff Systems Engineer (Messaging Technologies)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; hybrid work with at least 3 days in the office. Travel required 5–10% of the time, with occasional outside-office-hours support.

Salary: $131,600–$210,300 USD per year, with potential bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Architect, engineer, and provide third-level support for email and messaging technologies.
• Manage Exchange Online, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, hybrid deployments, compliance policies, and security policies.
• Operate email gateways, email security appliances and SaaS solutions, and email archiving platforms.
• Own L3 support for messaging automation tools and develop secure self-service mechanisms.
• Monitor performance, implement alerting, resolve automation errors, and support security investigations.
• Lead technical deployments and collaborate with network, cybersecurity, operations, business, and external financial institution teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, 2+ years with an advanced degree, 0 years with a PhD, or 8+ years of relevant experience.
• At least 5 years of experience with Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Online, email gateways, email security devices, and SaaS email security solutions.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, email flow, high availability, disaster recovery, archiving, and email security policies.
• Experience with network infrastructure, security principles, automation, monitoring, and alerting.
• Leadership, analytical, communication, facilitation, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in the Austin office at least 3 days per week and provide occasional outside-office-hours third-level support.

Nice to have

• Microsoft or other relevant technology certifications.
• Experience leading moderately complex cross-regional technology deployments.
