What you will do

• Prototype, implement, and own gameplay scenarios, narrative sequences, and interactive objects.
• Develop AI behaviors and other core gameplay mechanics and systems.
• Collaborate with animation, programming, and art departments to ensure required assets and code support are delivered.
• Foster team cohesion and advise design leadership on communication and workflow improvements.
• Work with minimal supervision while maintaining transparency with lead designers and directors.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience in Technical Design for games.
• A track record of at least 2 shipped professional games.
• Strong programming ability; a Computer Science undergraduate degree is preferred.
• Expertise in 3D math and fluency in C++, C#, Lua, or other text-based scripting languages.
• Deep understanding of narrative principles and conveying emotion through gameplay.
• Must be based in or able to work in Santa Monica, CA.

Nice to have

• Experience developing third-person action games.
• Knowledge of Behavior Trees and Encounter Design.
• Experience designing Narrative Gameplay Sequences.
