🦄 Description
Epoch Games is a volunteer-based, fully remote global game development team working on The Lays of Althas: Sundered Order, an open-world fantasy RPG developed in Unreal Engine 4. The team is looking for a long-term volunteer programmer to develop C++ systems and collaborate with other members of the programming department. This is not an internship or a short-term position.

🚀 Responsibilities
• Develop C++ code for The Lays of Althas: Sundered Order
• Build and maintain gameplay systems in Unreal Engine 4
• Collaborate with other members of the programming department
• Support junior team members when necessary
• Attend team meetings in Slack
• Report programming progress on a weekly basis
• Follow team policies and development workflows
• Communicate technical issues clearly with other team members
• Write clear and maintainable code

📚 Required Skills
• Experience programming in C++
• Experience with Unreal Engine 4
• Understanding of how C++ interacts with Unreal Engine 4
• At least one completed Unreal Engine project or game developed with C++
• Ability to write clear and legible code
• Knowledge of Ascent Combat Framework or Gameplay Ability System
• Strong online communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with a remote team
• Fluent English
• Long-term availability
• Passion for programming and creating high-quality games
• Access to Unreal Engine 4
• Access to Visual Studio Community Edition with Unreal Engine packages
• Access to Git SCM and Git LFS

👍 Nice to Have
• Experience with Blueprint scripting
• Experience with Git
• Experience developing user interfaces
• Experience mentoring junior programmers
• Unreal Engine C++ project available to demonstrate during the interview
