What you will do

• Develop the core of a new storytelling app using Kotlin to enable personalized print product creation.
• Design and develop new features and REST APIs in collaboration with frontend, product designers, and managers.
• Proactively identify and communicate technical improvements for the team's workflow.
• Provide and receive constructive feedback to foster an environment of constant improvement.
• Share backend engineering expertise with the wider hirify.global team.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience developing backend applications.
• Strong knowledge of JVM-based languages (Kotlin or Java).
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs and writing automated unit tests with mocks.
• Proficiency with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB) and NoSQL databases (Redis, DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Valid work permit for the EU/Austria or a Computer Science degree required for work permit application.
• Ability to be based in or relocate to Vienna, Austria.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS (S3, SQS, ECS, ECR, SES, RDS, CloudWatch, ElasticCache, CloudFront), Docker, GitLab, and Datadog.
• Experience with migrations from monolith to microservice infrastructure.
• Knowledge of statistical methods or machine learning algorithms.
• Kotlin-specific expertise in Coroutines, Ktor, or KMP.
• CI/CD experience and history of working with cross-functional teams.
