Senior Research Manager / Research Director (EdTech)

Senior Research Manager / Research Director (EdTech): Managing a multi-method research portfolio to measure the performance of tablet-based learning programs in Tanzania with an accent on quantitative and qualitative methodologies, stakeholder engagement, and government relations. Location: Must be based in Tanzania. Option to work remotely from home, in the Imagine Tanzania office, or a hybrid of the two. Must be available for virtual meetings between 5pm and 8pm Eastern Africa Time.

What you will do

• Oversee the implementation of a multi-method research portfolio, including baseline and endline learning assessments.
• Manage contracts and budgets with in-country research partners to ensure high-quality execution.
• Coordinate research schedules and activities with the local country team and government representatives.
• Liaise with government stakeholders to communicate research findings and address evidence needs.
• Monitor research timelines and deliverables to proactively address risks and implementation challenges.
• Ensure adherence to all research ethics and data governance requirements.

Requirements

• Must be based in Tanzania.
• Master’s degree (or PhD for Director level) in sociology, psychology, public policy, education, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, including project management.
• Strong qualitative and/or quantitative research skills demonstrated through work product.
• Experience managing research contracts and budgets.
• Strong communication and writing skills, including experience working with diverse stakeholders and government officials.

Nice to have

• Experience with research in school settings.
• Proficiency in descriptive and inferential statistics.
• Experience with both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
