TL;DR

Entry-level Engineer (Renewables Electrical): Designing and supporting the construction of small-to-utility scale PV and BESS projects with an accent on site feasibility, construction documents, and NEC compliance. Focus on calculating PV stringing layouts, sizing cables, and coordinating point of interconnection equipment.

Location: Must be based in or able to work from Rochester or Buffalo, New York (onsite preferred, hybrid/remote possible)

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per year

Engineering firm specializing in Renewables Electrical projects, including PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems throughout the United States.

What you will do

  • Design and manage project designs for PV and BESS systems from feasibility to construction.
  • Generate clear and cost-effective construction set deliverables following industry best practices.
  • Calculate PV stringing layouts and size cables, overcurrent protective devices, and equipment ratings per NEC.
  • Perform layout of Point of Interconnection equipment and coordinate site layouts with Civil Engineers.
  • Ensure project compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC) and IEEE-C2 (NESC) standards.
  • Conduct site visits and perform review of project drawings and documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, energy engineering, engineering technology or a related program.
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of professional engineering experience in the energy or construction industries.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software.

Nice to have

  • New York State Professional Engineer’s license.
  • Experience with PVCase, PVSyst, or eTap.
