Location: Based at in Delft, the Netherlands, with part of the work conducted on-site at Model Health in Leuven, Belgium. Willingness to travel regularly to Leuven is required; relocation to the Netherlands may be necessary.
Salary: €3,546–€5,538 per month, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.

What you will do
- Validate markerless motion capture against marker-based data from stroke patients.
- Generate biomechanically accurate synthetic video data for model training and controlled sensitivity analyses.
- Develop a single-camera markerless motion capture system for home-based monitoring.
- Evaluate algorithm performance across laboratory and home-recorded environments, pathology severity, body morphology, camera viewpoints, and environmental conditions.
- Design clinician-facing visualization tools with privacy-by-design anonymization of patients and their home environments.
- Prepare peer-reviewed publications and consortium deliverables while coordinating with academic, clinical, and industry partners.
Requirements
- PhD in Biomechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Vision, Robotics, or a related discipline.
- Experience with pose estimation, computer vision, and/or synthetic data generation for model training.
- Strong programming skills, including Python, for algorithm development, data analysis, and computational modelling.
- Experience with or affinity for clinical and experimental gait data from neurological populations, particularly stroke and Parkinson’s disease.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary consortium.
- Fluency in English is required, and regular travel to Leuven, Belgium is expected.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in Dutch for patient communication.
- Proficiency in Moroccan Arabic or Turkish.
