What you will do

• Own and modernize the end-to-end architecture of the governance domain, covering authentication, roles, permissions, and billing.
• Lead the refactoring of foundational backend systems toward an AI-native architecture to support customizable enterprise workflows.
• Set the technical direction for authentication, authorization, and organizational modeling.
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to translate enterprise requirements into scalable platform capabilities.
• Mentor the engineering team and raise the bar for backend practices and architectural rigor.
• Operate as a hands-on individual contributor, writing and reviewing critical-path code 70–80% of the time.

Requirements

• Must be located in the continental US.
• AI fluency with a working understanding of LLMs, agents, tokens, RAG, and data governance.
• Extensive experience owning and hardening complex, business-critical backend systems at enterprise scale.
• Deep expertise in designing authentication/authorization, multi-tenant systems, or billing platforms.
• Proven track record of technical leadership as an individual contributor (IC).
• Strong architectural judgment to balance pragmatism with long-term platform thinking.

Nice to have

• Experience with SSO/SAML, SCIM, audit logs, and compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO 27001).
• Experience with usage-based pricing models and billing systems.
• Familiarity with integrating LLMs and building agentic workflows.
