What you will do

• Lead end-to-end daily production for The Hard Shoulder, including editorial planning, running orders, and studio coordination.
• Set and deliver the editorial vision, using strong judgement and knowledge of current affairs to shape distinctive stories.
• Manage, coach, and develop a team of researchers, reporters, and contributors to maintain high standards of accuracy and creativity.
• Produce live in-studio output, adapting pacing and content in response to breaking news and audience signals.
• Generate and commission original radio ideas, features, and exclusives that are fresh and audience-focused.
• Ensure all output complies with legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements, including defamation and privacy codes.

Requirements

• At least two years’ experience in a similar producer or senior producer role, ideally in live speech radio or news.
• Qualification in journalism or a related discipline.
• Excellent editorial judgement and a deep understanding of live speech radio.
• Strong knowledge of media law, defamation, and Coimisiún na Meán codes of conduct.
• Ability to lead complex live output calmly and decisively under pressure.
• Digitally literate with an understanding of how radio content travels across social, web, and podcast platforms.

Nice to have

• Experience in cross-station initiatives and multi-platform content campaigns.
• Strong existing contact base for guest booking and agenda-setting interviews.
