What you will do

• Ensure accurate spelling, grammar, spacing, and factual accuracy across HTSI’s print and digital output.
• Apply and maintain the FT house style, including sensitive copy handling and collaboration with writers.
• Write sophisticated display copy, smart print standfirsts, and clickable online headlines.
• Manage, update, and publish live stories, including some out-of-office-hours responsibilities (evenings and weekends).
• Deputise for the chief sub editor when they are absent.

Requirements

• At least a few years of subbing experience on a consumer magazine, covering both print and digital.
• Strong command of grammar, spelling, and spacing, with meticulous attention to details like picture captions.
• Ability to implement the FT house style effortlessly and maintain rigorous editorial standards.
• Creative capability to produce elegant headlines and standfirsts for both print and online.
• Strong leadership and responsiveness to adapt to change throughout the working day.
