What you will do
- Lead the digital visual and editorial strategy to establish a distinctive identity across video, podcasts, and social media.
- Produce high-impact video content, including livestreams, radio simulcasts, and digital-first formats.
- Develop visual production capabilities and refine workflows for studio, location, and mobile journalism.
- Drive audience growth, specifically targeting younger and female demographics, using data-driven insights.
- Coach and mentor journalists and presenters to improve on-screen confidence and visual storytelling skills.
- Collaborate with teams in Nairobi, Mogadishu, and the Horn of Africa to align editorial priorities.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a video journalist and team leader with a portfolio of high-impact digital content.
- Proven strategic leadership skills in developing video strategies and driving audience growth.
- Expert knowledge of production and distribution for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other emerging platforms.
- Ability to use audience analytics to inform commissioning and optimize content performance.
- Fluency in Somali and English (scripting, writing, and editing).
- Legal right to work in Nairobi.
