What you will do

• Research and prototype lightweight cryptographic mechanisms for 5G NTN Mobile Networks.
• Design and implement security components for resource-constrained IoT devices and high-performance platforms.
• Integrate cryptographic solutions into the 5G NTN system and satellite platform for secure end-to-end communications and roaming security.
• Implement and validate secure communications across devices, application servers, and satellite infrastructure.
• Lead the technical execution and proposal writing for EU and national R&D initiatives (ESA, Horizon Europe).
• Collaborate with RAN, core network, and system engineering teams to ensure alignment with the NTN roadmap.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or Computer Science.
• Hands-on experience in security engineering or applied cryptography.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and practical experience with Python for automation.
• Experience with Linux-based development environments and RF tools or wireless-system testing.
• Knowledge of secure communication protocols, key management, and encryption (TLS, DTLS).
• English: B2+ proficiency required for written and verbal communication.

Nice to have

• Understanding of post-quantum and lightweight cryptography (AES, RSA, ECC).
• Familiarity with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Certificate Authority (CA) design.
• Knowledge of 5G, NB-IoT, CCSDS, and 3GPP/NIST standards.
• Experience in threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and secure-by-design engineering.
• Prior experience coordinating publicly funded R&D projects (SNS-JU, Horizon Europe).
