What you will do

• Build and maintain Android (Kotlin) and iOS (Swift) apps that turn phones into motion sensors for telematics.
• Implement complex background journey recording using foreground services, Activity Recognition, and geofencing.
• Develop BLE beacon detection and sensor fusion for GPS, accelerometer, and gyroscope streams.
• Create customer-facing interfaces using Jetpack Compose on Android and SwiftUI/UIKit on iOS.
• Manage release engineering, including white-label builds for multiple brands and staged rollouts.
• Debug concurrency issues and race conditions using device logs, CSV traces, and production telemetry.

Requirements

• Strong commercial Android experience in Kotlin, including Coroutines and Flow.
• Deep expertise in background execution failure modes (WorkManager, AlarmManager, broadcast receivers).
• Proficiency in modern Android UI (Jetpack Compose) and architecture.
• Ability and willingness to maintain the iOS app using Swift.
• Must be based in the UK.
• Practical fluency with AI coding agents and the ability to critically review AI-generated output.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in telematics, IoT, fitness/activity tracking, or navigation.
• Experience with iOS CoreLocation-driven background models, SwiftUI, and UIKit.
• Knowledge of BLE stacks and sensor fusion (filtering noisy GPS signals).
• Experience with Firebase (Crashlytics, Analytics, and Remote Config).
