Safety Integration Engineer - Structure Performance (Automotive)

TL;DR

Safety Integration Engineer (Automotive): Executing development and validation of vehicle crash safety systems with an accent on structural analysis and crashworthiness. Focus on performing FEA simulations using LS-DYNA and synthesizing virtual and physical test results to optimize vehicle design.

Location: Hybrid: Must report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum

What you will do

• Lead vehicle design for crashworthiness using CAE simulations for frontal, side, and rear impact load cases.
• Perform structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to evaluate and optimize performance.
• Develop and implement technical solutions to meet Vehicle Technical Specifications (VTS) and global safety targets.
• Provide physical safety test support at the Milford Vehicle Proving Grounds, including teardowns and results interpretation.
• Collaborate with global teams, suppliers, and manufacturing to implement design changes.
• Present performance status and simulation results in regular engineering forums.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study.
• 2 or more years of experience in virtual CAE and physical testing related to structures.
• Must have valid US work authorization; the company does not provide immigration sponsorship.
• High level of analytical ability to solve complex system integration problems.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Knowledge of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).
• Working knowledge of Unigraphics, TeamCenter, and VisMockup.
• Experience with GM’s Global Vehicle Development Process.
