Location: Must be based in the US; hybrid arrangement requiring onsite presence at the Global Technical Center in Warren, MI, at least one week per month.

What you will do
- Lead the development and maintenance of product safety architecture for AMR systems, including safety concepts and requirements.
- Integrate safety-by-design principles across hardware and software architectures and implementation decisions.
- Execute core safety work products including hazard analyses, risk assessments, and performance level calculations.
- Prepare documentation and evidence packages required to support third-party NRTL certification and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex safety-related technical issues and gaps.
- Mentor engineers and influence teams on functional safety and automation safety practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Systems, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Significant professional experience in functional, machine, or product safety engineering for electromechanical systems.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards: ISO 13849, IEC 61508, ISO 12100, ISO 3691-4, ANSI B56.5, or UL.
- Experience translating safety objectives into actionable engineering requirements and technical decisions.
- Must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
Nice to have
- Experience leading safety architecture for autonomous mobile robots, industrial vehicles, or warehouse automation.
- Direct experience working with third-party certification bodies, auditors, or test labs.
- Proficiency with safety engineering tools: FMEA, FMEDA, fault tree analysis, or reliability block diagrams.
- Familiarity with LiDAR-based sensing, safety PLCs, and fail-safe actuators.
