TL;DR
Senior SRE Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes): Building and operating reliable, scalable cloud infrastructure for software used by laboratories and research organizations with an accent on AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and observability. Focus on automating operational workflows, modernizing Windows Server environments, improving incident response, and maintaining reliability during on-call support.
Location: Fully remote within the European Union; candidates must be located in the EU and have the legal right to work there.

What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain reliable, scalable infrastructure on AWS.
- Manage and improve the Kubernetes platform, primarily Amazon EKS, and maintain Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code.
- Improve deployment pipelines and help engineering teams release software safely and efficiently.
- Automate repetitive operational processes and simplify workflows by aligning solutions with stakeholder needs.
- Maintain and modernize Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, LDAP, patching, and user management.
- Strengthen monitoring, alerting, observability, incident response, and production reliability while participating in the on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Production experience building and operating environments on AWS, including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, networking, VPNs, and multi-account environments.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, and preferably Amazon EKS and Helm.
- Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, LDAP, patching, user management, and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix, Alloy, New Relic, or Datadog.
- Professional proficiency in English, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, and experience with operational support and on-call responsibilities.
- Legal right to work in the European Union required.
Nice to have
- Experience modernizing on-premise or legacy infrastructure.
- AWS certification or CKA certification.
- Experience with Octopus Deploy, Windows/IIS application pools, MariaDB/Galera clusters, or highly regulated and SaaS environments.
- Experience improving developer experience and CI/CD pipelines.
