TL;DR

What you will do

  • Evaluate, review, and update field-level security management plans, Security Risk Assessments (SRA), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee the security, safety, and facilities of office compounds, warehouses, and guest houses, including fire safety and evacuation plans.
  • Manage the reporting and tracking of safety and security incidents via a dedicated database.
  • Coordinate field travel and movement protocols, ensuring vehicles are equipped and staff are tracked.
  • Provide safety and security training, including orientation for new staff and specialized training for drivers and guards.
  • Establish and maintain liaison with local authorities, NGOs, UN agencies, and security forces to facilitate humanitarian access.

Requirements

  • University Degree in social sciences, peace and security, international relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience for degree holders (5 years for diploma holders).
  • Proficiency in English and Amharic (written and verbal) is required.
  • Strong assessment, evaluation, and planning skills with the ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Digital literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Must be based in or able to work in Gambella, Ethiopia.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience working with NGOs.
  • Ability to speak local languages of the Gambella region.
  • Post-graduate degree (reduces experience requirement to 1 year).
