What you will do

• Design, implement, and test production-grade diagnostics software for cutting-edge network switches.
• Perform bring-up of newly manufactured boards and coordinate with hardware engineering teams on schedules and delivery.
• Isolate and perform root-cause analysis of reported hardware failures.
• Architect robust, scalable software using Python and object-oriented design principles.
• Develop system software for a Linux-based appliance platform.
• Lead architectural design discussions, conduct code reviews, and provide technical direction for complex projects.

Requirements

• BS in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on hardware validation, manufacturing diagnostics, or low-level systems programming.
• Expertise in Python development and object-oriented design (OOP).
• Experience with board bring-up and interaction with hardware (FPGAs, ASICs) using I2C, SPI, MDIO, JTAG, and PCIe.
• Familiarity with Layer 1 and Layer 2 networking concepts (PHYs, MACs, Ethernet link training, SerDes).
• Must possess Australian work rights (Citizenship, PR, or legal entitlement).

Nice to have

• Strong understanding of Linux internals with the ability to debug system-level and kernel-level issues.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and an interest in transitioning into engineering management.
