What you will do
- Design and implement multiscale material models for textile composites, including woven, braided, NCF, and 3D woven architectures.
- Develop virtual manufacturing workflows to capture the influence of processes like draping, infusion, and curing on material performance.
- Build and validate homogenization methods and continuum mechanics models for damage and failure behavior.
- Create automated workflows for textile composite model generation and correlation against experimental data.
- Lead R&D projects through the full lifecycle from algorithm development to industrial deployment.
- Integrate new simulation capabilities into production-quality software using Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
Requirements
- PhD in Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Mathematics (or equivalent research/industry experience).
- 5–8 years of post-doctoral or industrial R&D experience in composite materials modeling.
- Advanced knowledge of homogenization, continuum mechanics, and damage/failure modeling.
- Proficiency in at least one of C++, C#, or Python.
- Familiarity with finite element platforms such as Abaqus, Marc, LS-DYNA, or Nastran.
- Experience with software development practices including Git, SVN, Docker, and CI/CD.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with WiseTex, TexGen, or DFCA.
- Knowledge of virtual manufacturing tools like PAM-RTM or equivalent resin flow simulation software.
- Exposure to AI/ML techniques applied to materials modeling or simulation acceleration.
- Experience developing Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) workflows.
