Smartly is the AI-powered advertising technology company transforming ad experiences for brands and their consumers.

Overview

The Creative AI Product Lab team at Smartly is focused on helping marketers optimize their ad creatives using AI-based solutions, from creative learning to production assistance. As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will build and experiment with AI models, contributing to Smartly’s AI vision and working closely with product, software engineers, and data scientists.

What you will do

  • Build, experiment with, and productionize AI models in computer vision, generative AI, and natural language.
  • Train, fine-tune, and add pre-/post-processing to existing model architectures.
  • Evaluate open/closed source solutions for model selection and architecture.
  • Work with large-scale advertising data (images, videos, text, audio, KPIs).
  • Contribute to Smartly’s AI vision, strategy, and model design.
  • Collaborate with product, software engineers, and data scientists to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • Experience building and testing production-quality AI capabilities for industry applications in computer vision, generative AI, and natural language.
  • Experience designing, building, and experimenting with agentic systems.
  • Experience working with MLOps workflows.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid setup (3 days per week in our Helsinki office) as part of a globally distributed team.

Hiring process

  • First meeting to get to know each other.
  • Meeting with the Team Lead to learn more about the team and manager.
  • Technical interviews: interactive coding interview and discussion around Machine Learning concepts and MLOps design.
  • Final Interview to learn about the departmental group and meet the skip-level manager.
