Senior Thermal Analyst (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States. The role involves access to ITAR-controlled information and requires a U.S. person or eligibility for a federally issued export control license.

Salary: $140,000–$230,000 per year plus equity.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end orbital thermal models for spacecraft buses from initial architecture through flight.
• Lead steady-state and transient thermal analyses across hot, cold, degraded, and off-nominal mission cases.
• Design and evaluate active and passive thermal control systems, including pumps, lines, accumulators, cold plates, heaters, and cooling systems.
• Lead thermal architecture trade studies, define thermal margins, and present findings at PDR/CDR reviews to program leadership and customers.
• Correlate thermal models with TVAC and thermal-balance test data and investigate root causes when predictions and tests disagree.
• Develop test stands, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and control scripts for pump fluid loops and thermal-control components.

Requirements

• 5+ years of thermal test experience in a high-rate manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years of experience sizing and testing fluid systems, including pumps, valves, accumulators, heat exchangers, and cold plates.
• Strong experience with thermal and TVAC testing, including setup, instrumentation, and troubleshooting.
• Experience developing and executing test plans and building data-acquisition systems for thermal and power applications.
• Experience setting modeling standards, documenting analyses, and mentoring junior or associate thermal analysts.
• Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license under ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with Thermal Desktop and basic statistical data analysis.
• Experience with signal conditioning, pump testing, avionics testing, or refrigeration-system testing.
• Knowledge of NX or AutoCAD for designing test fixtures.
