TL;DR
Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Tinder): Designing and building scalable, low-latency backend systems for interactive dating experiences with an accent on real-time performance and distributed architecture. Focus on leading technical design, driving rapid experimentation, and mentoring engineers within a cross-functional product studio.
Location: Must be based in Seoul, South Korea (Hybrid: 3 days/week in-office)

What you will do
- Design and operate scalable, low-latency backend services for real-time dating features.
- Lead technical architecture and system design, balancing performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Enable rapid iteration and A/B testing cycles to support a fast-moving product cadence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, Data, and mobile engineers.
- Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, testing, and best practices.
- Mentor team members and contribute to the overall technical direction of the pod.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional backend software development experience.
- Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin (Spring/WebFlux).
- Experience with distributed systems, relational/NoSQL databases, and messaging systems like Kafka.
- Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Ability to work in Seoul and travel internationally without restriction.
Nice to have
- Experience with real-time systems (WebSockets, WebRTC, live events).
- Experience with high-scale data pipelines (Flink, Spark, ElasticSearch).
- Experience taking products from 0 to 1 in a startup-like environment.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve productivity and innovation.
