Thermal Analyst (Spacecraft)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; the role is subject to U.S. export-control eligibility requirements.

Salary: $100,000–$180,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Build and run thermal models for spacecraft and components across ground processing, launch, and on-orbit mission phases.
• Design and test active and passive thermal control systems, including pumps, valves, accumulators, heat exchangers, cold plates, heaters, and cooling systems.
• Plan, develop, and execute thermal-cycle and thermal-vacuum testing campaigns.
• Set up, commission, instrument, and maintain test stands and data-acquisition systems.
• Develop test and control scripts for pump fluid loops, individual components, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Analyze and present test data, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical setups, and prepare development and production documentation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of thermal test experience in a high-rate manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years of experience sizing and testing fluid systems, including pumps, valves, accumulators, heat exchangers, and cold plates.
• Demonstrated experience with data acquisition for thermal and power applications.
• Experience developing and executing test plans, including thermal and thermal-vacuum testing, instrumentation, and troubleshooting.
• Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of NX or AutoCAD for designing test fixtures.
• Experience with Thermal Desktop and basic statistical data analysis.
• Experience with signal conditioning, pump testing, avionics testing, or refrigeration systems.
