Thermal Analyst (Aerospace)

TL;DR

Thermal Analyst (Aerospace): Building and running thermal models to predict spacecraft and component temperatures across all mission phases with an accent on translating CAD geometry into orbital thermal models. Focus on running steady-state and transient simulations and correlating model predictions against test data.

Location: Los Angeles, CA. Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by ITAR regulations (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, etc.)

Salary: $100,000 - $220,000 + equity

What you will do

• Design active and passive thermal control systems, sizing components like lines, pumps, accumulators, and cold plates.
• Plan and develop thermal cycle and thermal-vacuum (TVAC) testing campaigns.
• Develop heater and cooling systems including the overall control architecture.
• Setup and maintain state-of-the-art test stands and data acquisition systems.
• Conduct tests on novel pump fluid loops, power electronics, and hardware-in-the-loop.
• Create formal technical documentation, including test procedures and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with thermal testing in a high-rate manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years of experience sizing and testing fluid systems (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, etc.).
• Proven experience with data acquisition for thermal and power applications.
• Strong proficiency in TVAC testing, including setup, instrumentation, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of NX or AutoCAD for designing test fixtures.
• Must be a "U.S. Person" per ITAR export control regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Thermal Desktop and statistical data analysis.
• Knowledge of signal conditioning and signal-to-noise ratio optimization.
• Experience testing pumps, avionics, or refrigeration systems.
