Legal Counsel (Intellectual Property) (Tech)

What you will do

• Manage the group's global trade mark portfolio, including the Kick and Stake brands, from filing through to registration.
• Handle trade mark oppositions and disputes, defending the group's IP and challenging conflicting third party marks.
• Conduct trade mark clearance searches on new names, logos, and campaigns to advise on brand protection risk.
• Review, draft, and negotiate essential commercial contracts, including licensing, sponsorship, and vendor agreements.
• Instruct and manage external trade mark agents and IP counsel across multiple global jurisdictions.
• Provide practical legal advice to internal teams on IP, technology, privacy, and consumer protection.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law and admission to practice in Australia.
• 2 to 5 years PQE.
• Demonstrated experience in trade mark prosecution, global portfolio management, and enforcement.
• Proven ability to review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts.
• Excellent written and verbal English proficiency.
• Ability to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience managing external IP counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
• Knowledge of the technology and digital entertainment landscape.
• Familiarity with online gambling regulations and/or the livestreaming space.
