TL;DR

SRE (BigData): Deploying, monitoring, and maintaining large-scale big data infrastructure with an accent on Apache Hadoop, Hive, and Kafka clusters. Focus on ensuring maximum system uptime, performance testing, and advancing the technology stack through innovative configuration and automation solutions.

Location: Worldwide Remote. Relocation support to EU, UK, or US is negotiable.

Salary: $8,000–$10,000/month net.

What you will do

• Deploy, configure, and maintain big data stores across multiple data centers.
• Manage large-scale Linux infrastructure to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Develop and document system configuration standards and operational procedures.
• Perform performance and reliability testing, including hardware and software configuration reviews.
• Advance the technology stack by implementing innovative and creative infrastructure solutions.

Requirements

• Must be able to work East Coast U.S. hours (9 am–6 pm EST).
• Strong understanding of Apache Hadoop and Hive with GitOps practices.
• Proven experience managing Kafka clusters on Linux.
• Deep knowledge of Linux (Rocky Linux preferred).
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Ruby, or Shell).
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, CDN, load balancing).

Nice to have

• Experience with Percona XtraDB, Trino, and Kerberos.
• Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Icinga).
• Experience with Kubernetes and Puppet.
• Background in AdTech or High-Frequency Trading.
