Engineering Group Leader (Embedded): Leading a team of engineers to define, deliver, and evolve foundational Basic Software (GMBSW) for the Mechatronic Software Platform with an accent on automotive ECU integration, cybersecurity, and functional safety. Focus on driving technical strategy, fostering a high-performing inclusive culture, and ensuring production-ready software scalability across GM’s vehicle programs.

Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to Milford, Michigan (Hybrid: 3+ days/week in office)

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of BSW engineers, fostering an inclusive and high-performing culture.
• Define and evolve reusable BSW solutions including HWIO, MCAL, RTOS, and communication stacks.
• Align BSW delivery strategy with MSP portfolio priorities, ECU roadmaps, and program timing.
• Ensure BSW products meet rigorous standards for reliability, safety, and cybersecurity.
• Drive continuous improvement in development workflows, automation, and release processes.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including architecture, integration, and validation to resolve technical blockers.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of professional experience in automotive or embedded software development.
• Deep expertise in AUTOSAR-based systems and foundational ECU software.
• Proven experience leading technical teams or cross-functional software efforts.
• Proficiency in C or C++ and familiarity with scripting/automation languages.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• Prior experience as an EGL, SWIM, or equivalent line manager.
• Experience within a Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) environment.
• Hands-on experience with specific AUTOSAR BSW domains like diagnostics, boot/programming, or RTE.
