What you will do
- Design and maintain Python services for sports data ingestion, transformation, and distribution.
- Integrate with third-party sports data providers, handling diverse provider models and update patterns.
- Build reliable pipelines for near real-time and batch data processing.
- Develop domain models for sports events, leagues, teams, participants, and odds.
- Improve data validation, reconciliation, monitoring, alerting, and system observability.
- Collaborate with backend, product, trading, and platform teams to ensure dependable data flows.
Requirements
- 5+ years of strong production experience with Python and backend service design.
- Solid experience with Django and asynchronous programming (asyncio).
- Production experience with Apache Kafka and relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
- Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and data pipelines.
- Experience integrating with external APIs, feeds, or third-party data providers.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.
Nice to have
- Experience in sports betting, gaming, fantasy sports, fintech, or trading domains.
- Proficiency in Go (Golang) for high-throughput backend services.
- Experience with event-driven architecture or message queues.
- Knowledge of Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, or infrastructure-as-code.
- Interest in using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development quality.
