What you will do

  • Recruit study participants and conduct informed consent processes in Dinka.
  • Lead camera and phone orientation sessions, training participants in basic device use and ethical photography.
  • Facilitate group photo discussions and cross-group dialogue sessions using the SHOWeD method.
  • Perform data collection through audio recordings and detailed field notes.
  • Transcribe and translate recordings from local languages to English.
  • Implement trauma-informed safeguarding protocols and refer participants to health or counseling services.

Requirements

  • Degree in public health, social science, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Fluency in spoken Dinka and literacy in English for reporting.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in community engagement, health promotion, or qualitative data collection.
  • Demonstrated experience working with women and vulnerable community groups in South Sudan.
  • Familiarity with local social structures, clan dynamics, and community leadership.
  • Certification in Human Subjects Research Ethics (e.g., NIH, CITI).

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Prior experience with photovoice or participatory action research.
  • Experience in reproductive health, gender-based violence, or women's empowerment.
