Senior Manager Software Development (Java/Enterprise Software): Leading the Gates / Secure Access engineering team developing secure, reliable passenger processing solutions for airports and airlines with an accent on operational reliability, security, and scalable enterprise delivery. Focus on translating product and customer needs into technical objectives, coordinating releases and production changes, and building engineering capability through planning, automation, and team development.
Location: Dortmund, Germany; hybrid with work from home up to 2 days per week depending on team needs

What you will do
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of software engineers while fostering ownership, collaboration, continuous learning, and high performance.
- Translate product priorities and customer needs into technical objectives, team goals, delivery plans, and capacity requirements.
- Coordinate planning, estimation, prioritization, and scope clarification with Product Management, Architecture, QA, Operations, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure reliable delivery of Gates / Secure Access features, releases, patches, and production changes.
- Identify and mitigate dependencies, risks, blockers, and resource constraints across teams and departments.
- Improve development, release, testing, support, documentation, automation, and operational-readiness practices.
Requirements
- Strong software development background, ideally with Java, full-stack technologies, and enterprise-grade applications.
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing software engineering teams.
- Knowledge of agile software development, delivery planning, iterative product development, test automation, and software quality practices.
- Ability to align product priorities and customer needs with technical objectives and team goals.
- Experience managing stakeholders across Product Management, Architecture, QA, Operations, and customer-facing teams.
- Strong communication, empathy, emotional intelligence, capacity planning, prioritization, and requirements management skills.
Nice to have
- Experience designing scalable, maintainable enterprise solutions and working with software architecture.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using AI-supported tools to improve engineering productivity, quality, or delivery processes.
