Test Project Lead

TL;DR

Test Project Lead (QA/Testing): Lead and coordinate SW and System testing for telematics/connectivity changes for OEM/customers with an accent on test strategy, automated testing framework development, and ensuring timely, budget- and quality-compliant deliveries. Focus on managing distributed test resources, owning release-level defect triage and regression/smoke test packs, and aligning test coverage across global system test teams.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a distributed team of permanent and supplier test resources.
• Plan, track, and manage SW and System test activities for assigned projects across weekly and release-based cycles.
• Support Scrum and Waterfall delivery teams with testing estimation, planning, and strategy for connectivity/telematics systems.
• Own and evolve an automated testing framework and advocate QA best practices (including exploratory testing initiatives).
• Run release activities: defect triaging across multiple projects and updating regression/smoke test packs for new functionality.
• Coordinate test environments and ensure data quality and consistency across the program.

Requirements

• Location/relocation: Be willing to relocate to project test locations (Hiroshima, Tokyo, and possibly Nagoya) and travel up to 10% international and 60% domestic.
• Japanese: Native level written and spoken Japanese (mandatory for customer interface and global coordination).
• English: Very fluent level of English.
• Solid test management background with experience defining test strategy (test approach, test data management, environments) and proven track record in software testing.
• Experience with functional testing (including test design techniques) and non-functional testing such as load testing, penetration testing, and KPI testing.
• Working knowledge of source configuration management and defect tracking systems; strong stakeholder management and presentation/workshop skills.
