Software System Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Contribute to verification and validation and independent verification and validation activities for Nyx flight software.
• Manage requirements tracing from system-level requirements through software implementation, testing, and verification artifacts.
• Prepare and review software certification documentation and materials for NASA Safety Reviews.
• Interpret, tailor, and apply formal software standards while interfacing with Product Assurance.
• Maintain the software functional design baseline and plan testing for the integrated mission.
• Collaborate with system engineers and software developers to resolve technical issues and clarify requirements.

Requirements

• Experience with safety-critical or highly regulated software systems, preferably in aerospace.
• Strong understanding of requirements management, verification and validation, testing, and certification processes.
• Practical experience with flight software frameworks and modern C++.
• Experience with real-time systems, embedded development, or spacecraft software.
• Familiarity with software testing methodologies and simulation tools.
• Strong cross-disciplinary communication skills, attention to detail, and focus on quality and testing.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with SSP 50808, NASA-NPR-7150.2, NASA-STD-8739.8B, RCC319, or ECSS-Q-ST-80C.
• Experience with human-rated spaceflight programs.
• Experience with model-based systems engineering.
• Experience with CI/CD and build systems.
