TL;DR
Applied Research Engineer (AI): Building infrastructure for RL training data and evaluations for frontier AI agents with an accent on technical deployment, data pipeline optimization, and troubleshooting. What you will do
- Own technical deployment requests from frontier AI labs and data vendors from triage to completion.
- Clarify ambiguous technical requirements and identify necessary implementation steps.
- Build custom tools and one-off pipelines to resolve urgent customer or partner issues.
- Coordinate with research and GTM teams to unblock deployments.
- Balance speed and quality to meet time-sensitive customer demands.
- Document recurring issues and automate manual processes into reusable tools.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python, Docker, and Linux environments.
- Experience working on AI benchmarks and evaluations.
- Strong debugging instincts across code, data, and environments.
- Ability to operate independently in ambiguous situations without a prescribed roadmap.
- Strong judgment regarding speed, escalation, and security.
- Comfort working directly with technical customers and cross-functional teams.
Nice to have
- Experience in applied research engineering or forward-deployed engineering.
- Experience handling urgent production or deployment issues.
- Early-stage startup experience.
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
