R&D Scientist in Power Grid Reliability & Stability Modelling (Power Systems): Developing mathematical models and simulation frameworks for modern power systems with an accent on renewable energy integration and grid stability. Location: Hybrid from Kraków, Poland (1-2 days per week from the office)
Salary: 1000 - 1360 PLN/day

What you will do
- Lead R&D initiatives to build mathematical models and simulation frameworks for assessing the reliability and stability of modern power systems.
- Develop and validate numerical simulations for power systems with increasing levels of renewable and distributed energy resources.
- Combine physical and mathematical power system models with emerging technologies such as optimization methods, Machine Learning, and AI.
- Collaborate with international researchers, engineers, and external stakeholders including universities and research institutions.
- Present and disseminate research results through technical reports, scientific publications, and conference contributions.
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation, Power Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- Hands-on experience in developing mathematical and analytical models for electrical power systems.
- Practical experience with simulation platforms such as PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ATP, MATLAB/Simulink, or comparable tools.
- Programming skills in Python and at least one other language (e.g., C++, C#, Java, Rust).
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Ability to work in a hybrid model based in Kraków, Poland.
Nice to have
- Experience applying Machine Learning or AI techniques to simulation-driven engineering.
- Knowledge of High Performance Computing (HPC) environments and performance optimization.
- Expertise in using mathematical models for optimization, decision-making, or advanced control.
- Broader software engineering expertise in architecture, testing, and system design.
