TL;DR

Community Engagement Coordinator (Nonprofit): Advancing community engagement, organizing, and advocacy missions with an accent on regional strategy and the management of headquarters operations. Location: In-person in Greater Hartford, CT. Regular in-state travel required.

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 annually

LEAD is a statewide organization dedicated to empowering families and communities through education, service, and advocacy.

What you will do

  • Develop and coordinate community programs (ESL, mental health, financial literacy) aligned with organization pillars.
  • Lead advocacy campaigns for equitable education policies and high-quality public charter schools.
  • Build coalitions of families, stakeholders, and elected officials to support policy priorities.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the East Hartford headquarters and oversee one Assistant Coordinator.
  • Cultivate partnerships with faith-based leaders, nonprofits, and civic groups to expand community impact.
  • Manage social media presence and produce bilingual outreach content and newsletters.

Requirements

  • Must be based in or able to work in-person in Greater Hartford, CT.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in community organizing, nonprofit management, or advocacy leadership.
  • Proven track record in coalition building and public engagement.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Google Workspace, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to travel to LEAD centers and legislative events across Connecticut.

  • Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish).
