TL;DR

Director of Tax: Building and leading the global tax function for a high-growth company with an accent on M&A, transfer pricing, and public company readiness. Focus on establishing tax strategy, ensuring SOX compliance, and partnering with cross-functional leadership to support scalable growth.

Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to a hirify.global hub (San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO; Nashville, TN; or Santiago, Chile). Hybrid role: expected to work from the office 3+ days a week.

Salary: $252,000 - $296,000 USD (San Francisco range)

What you will do

  • Build and lead the global tax function, including team and vendor ecosystem management.
  • Own global tax strategy across direct and indirect tax, including federal, state, and international jurisdictions.
  • Lead quarterly and annual income tax provisions and ensure SOX-compliant processes.
  • Partner with Corporate Development on M&A due diligence, deal structuring, and post-close integration.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to Legal, Accounting, and Treasury on entity structuring and cash tax planning.
  • Oversee compliance for income tax, transfer pricing, and R&D credits.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive tax experience, including Big 4 and in-house roles.
  • Deep expertise in U.S. federal and state income tax, ASC 740, and indirect tax compliance.
  • Proven experience leading end-to-end tax provision processes and external auditor coordination.
  • Demonstrated success in supporting or leading tax workstreams for M&A transactions.
  • CPA, JD, or Master's in Taxation required.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Legal, Accounting, and FP&A teams.
