What you will do

• Execute and optimize protein production pipelines, including expression selection and purification strategies.
• Develop and support biochemical and enzymatic assays for kinetic and functional protein characterization.
• Perform molecular biology and microbiology experiments for pathway reconstitution.
• Manage laboratory infrastructure, including inventory, ordering, and general maintenance.
• Contribute to collaborative research and develop independent experimental sub-projects.

Requirements

• Diploma or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, or related field.
• Strong hands-on experience in multi-step protein expression and purification.
• Proven expertise in biochemical characterization and mechanistic analysis of proteins.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Hamburg, Germany.

Nice to have

• Experience in protein engineering or construct optimization.
• Practical exposure to X-ray crystallography or Cryo-EM sample preparation.
• Experience with in vitro reconstitution of enzymatic pathways.
• Interest in phage biology and metabolic immunity.
