Senior Underwriter (Commercial Auto)

Location: Remote from Ohio, United States; candidates outside the Greater Cleveland area must be able to work remotely from a home office 100% of the time.

Salary: $90,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do

• Assess and price endorsements, renewals, and new commercial insurance business within underwriting guidelines and delegated authority.
• Underwrite general liability, commercial auto liability, physical damage, umbrella/excess, property, crime, motor truck cargo, contingent auto, and cargo risks.
• Review new business and renewal quotes before issuance and ensure timely, accurate policy preparation.
• Order and review inspection reports to assess risk quality and validate exposure information.
• Document underwriting decisions and communicate standards, requirements, and guidelines to brokers and agents.
• Manage assigned broker and agent relationships and provide timely customer service.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience as a Transportation Underwriter in a multi-state, multi-line commercial insurance environment.
• Prior experience working remotely from a home office 100% of the time is required for candidates who are not local to the Greater Cleveland area or cannot commute daily to the local office.
• Strong property and casualty underwriting knowledge, especially in Commercial Auto.
• Advanced knowledge of ISO commercial class codes, CLM rules, forms, rating, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting and pricing principles, with the ability to make decisions based on program criteria and strategy.
• Creativity, multitasking ability, accurate documentation, and effective communication skills.
