Biomechanist (Forensic Engineering)

Salary: $90,000 - $130,000 per year

What you will do

• Conduct forensic investigations into vehicle crashes, slip/trip/fall incidents, and workplace accidents to assess human and design factors.
• Lead investigations of construction and industrial accidents based on safety principles and human factors.
• Perform biomechanical injury analyses to determine forces, motions, and tolerances involved in accident scenarios.
• Evaluate product safety, including hazard analysis and the effectiveness of warnings and instructions.
• Prepare technical reports and provide expert testimony during depositions and trials.
• Conduct static and dynamic testing related to material performance and human response.

Requirements

• Ph.D. degree required in Human Factors, Biomechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in human factors, ergonomics, biomechanics, or safety engineering.
• Proficiency with 2D and 3D motion analysis tools.
• Strong foundation in injury biomechanics and occupational safety analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to provide expert-level analysis and present findings to non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Certified Human Factors Professional (CHFP) or equivalent credential.
• Expertise in slip, trip, and fall analysis incorporating building codes.
• Experience in construction and industrial accident analysis and PPE assessment.
• Knowledge of occupant kinematics and injury tolerance.
