TL;DR

Mechanical Engineer (Hydropower): Design and manage new and upgraded hydropower systems with an accent on hydro turbines, dam water conveyance, and cooling systems. Focus on performing complex engineering calculations, leading production teams, and ensuring compliance with quality programs.

Location: Hybrid (Must be based in the US). Available offices: Overland Park, Atlanta, Cary, Chattanooga, Ann Arbor, Greenwood Village.

What you will do

  • Lead and design hydropower projects including turbines, radial gates, and large valves.
  • Perform hydraulic evaluations and FEA calculations for hydro turbines.
  • Design and improve HVAC systems, spillway gates, and cooling systems.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to lower-level engineering staff.
  • Coordinate with internal and external team members on complex projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Must be able to complete pre-employment background checks, drug screens, and motor vehicle records search.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering codes, design standards, and B&V quality programs.

Nice to have

  • 10+ years of mechanical or systems engineering experience in power generating facilities.
  • Experience managing projects or programs in a utility power plant setting.
  • Design and operation support experience for conventional and pumped storage hydroelectric stations.
  • Previous experience in a client-facing role.
