Senior Mechanical Engineer (Hydropower)

Location: Hybrid; must be based in or able to relocate to Tualatin, OR or Rancho Cordova, CA, US

Salary: $156,299 - 261,008

What you will do

• Lead the design and management of hydropower systems, including radial, drum, crest, and roller gates.
• Develop conceptual studies, hydraulic evaluations, and calculations for mechanical equipment in water conveyance projects.
• Design fluid power actuation systems, custom gearing, penstocks, and associated piping.
• Conduct dam safety inspections and provide critical input for risk assessments.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements while supervising junior engineering staff.
• Prepare complex engineering specifications and drawings for large-scale infrastructure deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 11 years of related work experience.
• Active engineering registration or licensure (P.E.) to support Engineer of Record (EOR) requirements.
• Proficiency in finite element analysis (FEA).
• Ability to work in a hybrid office environment in the United States.

Nice to have

• 25+ years of mechanical or systems engineering experience related to locks and dams.
• Previous experience in client-facing roles.
