TL;DR
Senior Field Support Engineer (Defence C4I): Supporting and configuring the SitaWare C4I product suite for New Zealand Defence Force customers with an accent on technical support, systems integration, and administrator and end-user training. Focus on delivering training packages, resolving complex operational issues, improving support activities, and maintaining customer capability in mission-critical environments.

Location: Wellington or Auckland, New Zealand; domestic travel is required based on customer needs.

What you will do

  • Maintain customer training needs, schedules, plans, and training deliverables.
  • Develop learning management plans, training packages, delivery manuals, and training needs analysis reports.
  • Deliver standard and tailored training to administrators and end users through group, individual, onsite, exercise-based, and online sessions.
  • Configure and support SitaWare in customer C4I environments for training, exercises, and operational scenarios.
  • Prepare post-activity reports and improve training, support, and delivery practices.
  • Build trusted Defence customer relationships and contribute to future capability development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s qualification in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in technical support, training, systems integration, or Defence-related delivery environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including technical presentations and training.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and resolve complex technical or operational issues.
  • Technical knowledge of one or more of Java, .NET, JavaScript, Angular, SQL, or XML, plus experience with Windows, Linux, Android-based operating systems, Active Directory, databases, XMPP chat, servers, or end-user devices.
  • Must hold, or be able to obtain and maintain, a high level of New Zealand security clearance and pass background, qualification, and police checks.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of New Zealand Defence Force or broader Defence terminology, use cases, and operational practices.
  • Military or Defence industry experience.
  • Experience working in agile environments, including Scrum.
