Location: San Francisco, CA. This is a full-time position based in the U.S. with geolocation-based pay differentials.
Salary: $209,500 - $314,500

What you will do
- Lead and scale the first-line financial crime function, covering transaction monitoring and EDD investigations.
- Develop operational workflows, SLAs, and quality standards for detection and escalation.
- Partner with Product, Data, and Engineering to embed risk controls into platform and payment workflows.
- Oversee high-risk customer reviews, source of funds assessments, and SAR-related escalations.
- Manage vendor strategy for KYC, identity verification, and risk intelligence tools.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of managers and analysts to maintain high investigative standards.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in financial crime, AML operations, transaction monitoring, or fraud/risk operations.
- Proven leadership experience in fintech, payments, banking, or regulated financial services.
- Deep understanding of AML typologies, customer risk, EDD, and suspicious activity escalation.
- Strong operational leadership skills, including workflow design, metrics management, and staffing.
- Ability to partner effectively with Compliance while maintaining first-line ownership.
- Excellent communication skills with experience in executive-ready reporting.
Nice to have
- CAMS, CFE, or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience with case management systems and advanced risk intelligence tooling.
